Large Casinos Pushing to Allow Internet Gambling

Author: Grubb Young

Recent news reports have it that many of the larger casino companies have decided that maybe internet gambling might not be a bad thing and have contacted members of Congress about repealing the laws that have banned internet gambling.

Currently, the online gambling industry is mostly sites such as Ultimate Bet, Poker Stars, and others, sites that are officially located in places like Aruba.  People who play in online tournaments have been able to win all expenses paid trips to Aruba to play in face to face, sit down tournaments.

But now, if the casino companies such as Harrahs or Trump, with their physical casinos work to allow internet gambling, it will be that much easier for people to find a poker room near at hand.  It will be easier for everyone to enter poker tournaments and maybe win a free admission to the World Series of Poker, at $10,000 a seat.  That is the type of promotional effort that brings the best of publicity to a poker room, no matter if it is an online room or a physical poker room within a brick and mortar casino.

Every time a novice comes out of the online world to win a bracelet at the World Series of Poker, no matter if it is the Main Event or one of the smaller tournaments, it brings a raft of publicity for the player and for the path he or she is able to follow to win the bracelet.  Companies such as Harrahs see the internet sites such as Ultimate Bet garnering large amounts of publicity, just because of a player from their site getting lucky and winning the most prestigious tournament of all.  What better way for a Harrahs to gain some of that same publicity? They can set up an online poker room for all the various games but concentrating on Texas Hold ‘Em.  They can structure their online tournaments so that winners can go from online tournaments to tournaments in poker rooms in places like St Louis, MO, Biloxi, MS, Cincinnati, OH, Atlantic City or Las Vegas itself.

Players could start the tournament trail in the comfort of their own home and wind up winning an expense paid trip to Las Vegas.  Of course, there are no guarantees that the casino companies would do such a thing but the senior executives of the larger casino companies are aware of the positive publicity that can come from marketing poker rooms in this fashion.

So shuffle up and deal and let the cards fall where they will!
